The Girl InThe Green Dress

It doesn’t take a million bucks to look like it. If I told you that my dress was $4 & my flowy cardigan was from a small vintage boutique would you believe me? The same thing that someone else could buy for 200$ I could put together for 20, and I could make a 10$ dress look like I spent 1,000$. The secret to the method is understanding the importance of basics, finding creativity in simplicity, and making the most of what you have in light of what you want.

Learning to make a lot out of a little is something that few people understand, most people achieve and some actually experience consistently. You see, for some people it’s the little things that count the most but for others the little things count but never really add up to be enough. What really is enough? What is too little? What is too much? It could all be so simple, but we’d rather make it hard.  Everything is what you make it to be. I could be the girl in a 4$ dress or I could be the girl in the green dress the difference only lies in what I believe.  Why do we sell ourselves short because we believe that there is always greater than as oppose to just believing in the beauty of the basics? It’s not what you have, it’s what you do with what you have. Everyday is a fashion show and the world is your runway.  It’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it. If I can make a 4$ dress look as good as this I dare you to make a 40$ outfit look like its 400$!

Find creative ways to re-invent or update the simple things. Everything that you own can be worn in more than one way, find out how many ways, try it out in all ways and if you can re-invent a new one. This dress was paired with an acid washed denim jacket and lace-up booties, a multicolored silk button down shirt and boots, and now with heels and a long cardigan ---There’s still a few more ways it can be worn as well. Just because something is simple doesn’t mean it has to be boring.
